I love meat, so it shouldn’t be any surprise that I kind of dig what Wurstkuche is all about. Founded by cousins Joseph Pitruzzelli and Tyler Wilson and located in the Los Angeles Toy District, Wurstkuche specializes in sausages. All kinds of them. Ranging from classic bratwursts to strange combinations like duck and bacon, alligator and pork, and rattlesnake and rabbit. Although honestly, I have a tough time distinguishing meat once it’s been blended and smushed into a casing. I’ve found sausage basically has a range from ‘delicious’ to ‘more delicious.’ And as good as the sausages from Wurstkuche are, I kind of love their double dipped Belgian fries even more. Heresy? Maybe. But I’m just calling it like I sees it. Like that dog over there. That’s a dog. See how I call it? Like I sees it? Um, yeah.

Belgian Fries (double dipped fries served with Chipotle Aioli and Pesto Mayo) – Twice-fried, meaning they’re extra crispy and extra delicious. The fries come with a choice of two dipping sauces, and I was pretty pleased with my chipotle aioli and pesto mayo. Honestly, I could’ve skipped the sausages and just had these and I still would’ve been happy with my meal. I don’t care how many sausages you order, get an order of fries. And then get me one.

Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeno Peppers (buttery and mildly spicy) – I had mine topped with caramelized onions and spicy peppers and then drenched in a variety of mustards (they’ve got a selection of five). The jalapeno peppers in the sausage with the spicy pepper topping gave the whole thing some good heat, although it was a smidge buttery and I’m not entirely sure I could pick out the flavors of rattlesnake or rabbit. Honestly, you could swap out the rattlesnake or rabbit with any other meat and I probably wouldn’t notice a difference. I mean, c’mon, it’s sausage. You could blend a shoe into there and I’d still eat the thing with a smile.
