The first time I tried eating here there was a line out the door. I thought it would move fast since, hey, grilled cheese sandwiches. How long could it take? But no. After ten minutes of standing in the exact same place, I realized it takes these guys an insane amount of time to cook bread and cheese. I left and decided to try again at a less popular hour. The Melt started off as a food truck in San Francisco and, like so many other popular food trucks, started setting up brick and mortar shops. I’m not really sure what to say about this place. They make grilled cheese sandwiches which means bread and cheese and, uh, that’s about it. It’s good, but if you manage to mess up a grilled cheese sandwich you must be some sort of genius savant at screwing up. The kind of person who attempts to boil water and ends up causing a multi-vehicle pile-up on the freeway.
