The Kroft is located on the bottom floor of the Anaheim Packing District and their slogan is “comfort food reinvented.” I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’ve reinvented anything (because they haven’t), but they do make good food. Their most popular items are their poutine and porchetta sandwich, so much so that the last couple times I’ve been they were sold out of their porchetta. I’ve never understood places that sell out of food. I want to give you my money, why not just have the thing I want to give it to you for? Sure, I’ve got a PhD in economics and business, but this seems pretty simple. Wait, do they give PhD’s in business? Doesn’t matter, because I’ve got one. No, wait, two.

$10 Porchetta Sandwich
This was my first time actually trying their porchetta sandwich since they were sold out all the other times I’ve been. The key here is that they sauce their sandwich, so you get a bit of added flavor and not just a mouthful of fat and oil. As far as porchetta sandwiches goes, this might be the best in Orange County. I mean, yeah, I’ve only had like one porchetta sandwich in Orange County and it was this one, but my statement still stands.

$5.5 Garlic Fries
I usually get their poutine, but I wanted to try the garlic fries on their own just to see. Pretty good, but there’s no reason to get this instead of the poutine. My Canadian friend even declared their poutine the best he’s had in SoCal. And being from Canada he’s had poutine, like, at least twice. Probably even three times.
