I’m assuming there aren’t a lot of dining options when you leave the California coast and head to Catalina Island. You’ve got a handful of souvenir shops, some ice cream options, and then a bunch of touristy restaurants. Using the power of the Internet, we stumbled upon The Lobster Trap, which appeared to be the most popular restaurant in the area. Everything was pretty good, but like a fool I ordered a whole Maine lobster, hoping it would somehow be a fraction as delicious as the actual Maine lobster I had in Maine. It wasn’t. If you’re craving lobster, this’ll get the job done. Just don’t go in with your expectations set to the moon, otherwise you’ll end up like me: sobbing loudly at the table while holding up a lobster and screaming, “Why?!”

Monkey Balls (ahi stuffed mushroom tempura)
Yeah, you read that description right: ahi stuffed mushroom tempura. And it’s just as tasty as that sounds.

Clam Chowder

Onion Rings

Whole Main Lobster
Good, but nowhere near the lobster experience I had in Maine. On rainy days, sometimes I’ll find myself staring off into space, drool casually dripping out of my mouth, as thoughts of that glorious Maine lobster drift in and out of memory.
