The Omar Special (Egg whites scrambled with cheese, green onions and tomatoes. Topped with grilled chicken & mushrooms and served with brown rice & a drizzle of pesto and avocado sauce.)
Mission Coffee Cup is a cozy little place in downtown La Jolla right next to Burger Lounge, and I think the emphasis is on healthy dining here. How did I come to this ground-shattering conclusion? Because the food tastes healthy. Well, not healthy, but healthier than the usual garbage I shovel into my face. Which isn’t to say the food is bland (because it’s not), just you’ll leave the place feeling a little less guilty than usual when leaving a brunch place.
I had the Omar Special and everything worked well together. There was even a little kick in either the avocado sauce that gave the whole thing a pleasantly unexpected heat. I think The Cottage still stands as my favorite brunch place in La Jolla, but if you’re ever in the mood for something a little more lenient on the gut, Mission Coffee Cup is just a few blocks away and way less crowded.

Thai Coffee (Espresso with sweetened condensed milk and steamed water) – Tastes like a Vietnamese coffee, but not nearly as strong. Just as delicious though.
