The first thing you notice about Green Zone is that it advertises organic Chinese food. I know what you’re thinking. Organic Chinese food? What kind of crazy madness is this? When I eat Chinese food I expect heaping servings of MSG, damnit! I came for flavor, not health! Well let me assure you, whatever Green Zone sacrifices in life-ending MSG, they more than make up for with, well, whatever else they put in their food that makes it delicious. I only had the Hainan chicken, but it was so amazing that I’m confident in saying that everything else is probably pretty good as well. Actually, don’t hold me to that. It’s very possible they spent all their effort perfecting their Hainan chicken and everything else on the menu tastes like newspaper. Who knows? All I know is that whatever I ate was delicious and probably won’t kill me as fast as some other random Chinese restaurant from down the street.

Organic Hainan Chicken Rice (poached organic boneless, skinless chicken over lemongrass flavored rice, served with ground ginger scallion paste and garlic chili sauce) – I don’t know if it’s the most authentic interpretation of Hainan chicken out there, but holy crap is it delicious. The chicken was tender, the sauces were amazing, and it was all boneless. You take the bones out of my food for me and you get automatic bonus points. Other ways to earn bonus points: give me bags of cash or have your cutest employee flirt with me. I should also mention that the rice is amazing. I usually treat rice as a food delivery system, but this rice was good enough to eat on its own. And that’s pretty much the highest praise I can give to rice, so you know I enjoyed it.
