Bourke Street Bakery is probably the most popular bakery in Sydney and, coincidentally, they’re located on Bourke St. What are the odds? Their most popular items are the pork and fennel sausage roll and the ginger creme brulee tart so you should probably order one of those if you want to be one of the cool kids. One thing I do love about Australia is their love of meat pies and sausage rolls. They’ve perfected the art of wrapping meat in pastry and I don’t want them to think that goes unnoticed. Even if they never make another contribution to the world, they can be proud of that.
The pork and fennel sausage roll was delicious, but of course it was because it’s a pork and fennel sausage roll. You can’t screw something like that up unless you’re really trying and you’ve got access to, like, human feces or something.
